Hayley's Questions
1. What are the elements that your ecosystem unique?
Things that make rainforests unique are the rainforests very high species diversity. The rainforest has about 31,000 fish, 10,000 birds, 8,800 reptiles, 6,500 amphibians and 5,000 mammals. The rainforest also has many different types of landforms, with these landforms the rainforests wouldn't have as high of species diversity. The many different landforms is what allows the high species diversity. Another that makes rainforests unique is how undiscovered species there are. There are many undiscovered rainforest animals that live in unaccessible areas of the rainforest.
5. What organisms act as the producers of your ecosystem?
The rainforests plants and trees are it's producers. The plants create food using water, light and carbon dioxide, this process is called photosynthesis. Other organisms of the rainforest eat these plants to get their energy. Some examples of rainforest producers are Astrocaryum tree, Hevea brasiliensis and the heliconia plant.

Julianna's Questions
2.How is your ecosystem well adapted to its biome?
My biome is a rainforest an ecosystem could be a tree. In the tree there could be monkeys living there. Those monkeys would have short fur because they would have to adapt to the heat of the rainforest. If the ecosystem is a swamp the animals in there would have to adapt to lack of food in there general area and the strong heat there.
3.What are some factors that effect the balance of your ecosystem?
Some factors are the predator prey situation. If one animal is decreasing its population then the predator (if it is prey) will decrease as well letting the prey to increase, or vise versa. Construction can effect the rainforest because it will remove the trees and ecosystems within it will no longer exist.
4. How are the elements of your ecosystem connected?
The elements are connected by food chains/ food webs. An example of one of these may be the sun, rain (water), and air create photosynthasis. A deer mouse would consume the sugars that the plant has provided. Then an owl would eat the deer mouse.

Jamie's Questions
6. What would happen to the world if the rainforest biome didn't exist?
Rainforests are a very important part of our world. Rainforests contain more than 50% of the world's plant and animal species. If rainforests were to be completely removed from the earth's surface, all of these animals would have no other place to go. Some would go extinct, and some would have to migrate to other areas, greatly disturbing the food webs around the world.
7. What is one positive and one negative effect that humans have on rainforests?
Positive: Efforts to protect and conserve tropical rainforest habitats are common and widespread. Tropical rainforest conservation ranges from preservation of this fascinating habitat to finding reservation management for people living in tropical rainforests.
Negative: Rainforest deforestation is a common issue that we hear about in our daily lives. Rainforests are being cut down to make room for new neighbourhoods, farmland, and for factories. Luckily, environmental activists are now forcing the issue that rainforests in places like Costa Rica and Vancouver be marked as environmental reserves, so they cannot be cut down.
